KDA Welcomes our New Competition Director!
Saylor Ann Burgess began dancing at the age of 3 in North Carolina. She began her competitive training in California and continued after moving to the Kansas City area. Saylor competed and won many top titles and awards at major competitions as well as attended many conventions throughout the country. Saylor attended college at Kansas State University with a dance scholarship. While at K-State, Saylor attended and performed in many American College Dance Festivals, Kansas Dance Festivals, and department dance concerts and musicals. She was chosen to be assistant choreographer in Kansas State’s “Fiddler on the Roof”.
While in college, she was accepted as an apprentice into Ann Reinking’s Broadway Theatre Project in Tampa FL. While at BTP, Saylor studied and worked side by side with New York’s top Directors, Producers, Choreographers, and Vocal Coaches including Jay Binder of Binder Casting, Ben Vereen, Terrence Man, Dave Clemmons, Nancy Dussault and Jan Horvath.
In 2010, Saylor was honored to serve as assistant to the BTP Assistant Director as well as teach dance classes for actors. After graduating with a duel degree in Theatre and Women’s Studies, Saylor moved to New York City where she was honored to be accepted to STEPS on Broadway’s internship program and continued to audition and perform throughout the city.
In 2011, Saylor was chosen to be Kansas State University’s Dance department’s guest artist as well as Choreographer for the Theatre Departments Fall musical production of “Little Shop of Horrors”. Saylor’s choreography has received many awards and special recognitions all over the country.
Currently, Saylor resides in Kansas City and teaches at Jody Phillips Dance Company. She continues to judge for many dance competitions, teach at conventions and guest choreographs for competitive programs throughout the country. She is currently on staff for Starpower and Revolution Talent Dance Competitions!

Kaleidoscope Dance Academy is very proud our brand new studio! Laine and Richard Harper are thrilled to bring a state of the art performing arts studio to Bentonville, Arkansas.
KDA’s 10,000 square foot studio features 5 large dance rooms with floating dance floors and large parent viewing windows. More highlights of the new studio include boy and girl dancer locker rooms, large waiting area, KDA dance store, student study room, large parking lot and much more! The studio’s new home is 900 SE Village Loop, just a short distance from Bentonville High School and directly behind Jump Zone. Come in any day for a tour of our studio!
